After my latest orbital drop, stationed on the SES HARBINGER of TWILIGHT, and a fierce battle against the Automatons in the Andromeda Sector. My old gear was damaged beyond repair. With SUPER CREDITS in hand, I had my Democracy Captain scour different Armor sets approved by the MINISTRY OF DEFENSE. I finally settled on the UF-50 BlOODHOUND helmet equipped with anti flinch, and a overall higher armor rating. Sadly I was informed that it was out of stock and not currently available in this sector, due to orbital blockades and supply line issues, being so close to the front line, and the automatons control of nearby planets. Not willing to give up, I ran across www.mediocre-studios.com on a list of SUPER EARTH approved broadcasts,
I noticed they also did not have the UF-50 armor set, but doing a bit more digging and after filing the correct approval forms, I was put into contact with the Higher ups at Mediocre Studios, and asked if they had said blue prints on the UF-50 specifications. And on a side note, ever since I've been issued this helmet, I've seen a tremendous up tick in the female portion of units stationed upon the Super Destroyer, wanting to fill out my C-01 form... do with this added armor perk as you will, but my one and only love will always be for SUPER EARTH 07

Highlighting Makers: The Paladins Forge
This blog will become a series as we can help build a community and raise up other creators who simply want to turn their creativity and talents into an honest living. At Mediocre Studios, we strive to provide the best-in-class product at a reasonable price. We go above and beyond, the required amount of sanding, often taking just about every piece all the way up to a 2000 grit wet sand. Why? Because we believe in quality, not mass-produced junk. We don't rush items out the door to make a quick buck; we ship items we would display on our own shelves. This is the standard we hold at Mediocre Studios. As we grow into a larger and more successful business, we find it our responsibility to highlight those who are forging their own path. Why? Because the first year in business is the most daunting. Statistically, most business will shutter their doors from the financial obligation. Others will become disenfranchised from the lack of orders after spending countless hours building their website. Even then, building a customer base is difficult when you are struggling to gain web traffic. SEO is complex subject and often makes or breaks a new business. This ranking system is employed by every search engine and strives to provide you, the consumer, the best site for the query you searched. Why does this matter? Because the first year in business you lack authority. Authority is multiple sites linking to you as the premier source for an item, a story, a product. There are no other sites pointing to your domain when you first start. This single item, well SEO entirely, down ranks your site when a potential customer searches for a specific item. This is where we step in. For any creator struggling to gain web traffic, we will create a blog post to highlight your website, your passion, your drive with direct links to your products and photos (provided by you) of your work. Let us help you build your dreams. What do we ask in return? Join our Discord and contribute to a thriving community who wants to learn how to create amazing works of art. Share your knowledge. That is all. You might just learn a few tips while you are there! https://discord.gg/mediocreaf The Paladins Forge Today, we are Highlighting a friend and a fellow Veteran. We had the opportunity to sit down and have lunch with Jacob from "The Paladins Forge" www.thepaladinsforge.com and ask him some questions, share in our love of all things Space Marines, 3D Printing, and different techniques for finishing items, as well as some sweet burgers! We asked him what his motivations were for creating www.thepaladinsforge.com Jacob, stated, "It began as a creative outlet born out of frustration at the lack of battle worn and authentic looking pieces and, hopefully, will grow into something bigger. Over time, The Paladin's Forge became my way to push my artistic talents to new levels while offering fellow fans something special. I strive to replicate authentic pieces, as if they were teleported from the worlds we love into the hands of my customers. https://thepaladinsforge.com/products/space-warrior-honor-guard-storm-shield What models are you most passionate about creating? "From Halo to Helldivers and the forbidden Space Warriors everybody loves, but is scarred to create. From Star Wars to Oblivion, and even the Predator series, I bring each universe to life to the best of my ability. Every scratch, scorch mark, and scuff are placed with care to tell a story whether it’s the grit of a veteran Space Warrior's pauldron, the battered visor of a Spartan, or the weathered plates of a crusader’s helm. Weathered pieces provide a touch of authenticity. No two pieces are alike and are often a conversation piece for avid genre defining fans." https://thepaladinsforge.com/products/space-warrior-helmet https://thepaladinsforge.com/products/space-warrior-spiritual-leader-helmet Why 3D printing? "I focus on creating bespoke pieces, I want them to feel real. I want the weight to tell you it was built for you, not some cheap flimsy piece, mass-produced on a factory line without a second thought. I want you to open that box and pull your order directly from the front lines. Whether you’re a collector looking for a centerpiece, a cosplayer ready to suit up, or a fan who just wants a piece of their favorite universe hanging on the wall, my goal is to deliver something that inspires pride, awe, and maybe even a little envy." https://thepaladinsforge.com/products/ebony-watchers-iron-halo?variant=44977849270458 Why should someone buy from you? The Paladin’s Forge is my way of taking imagination and turning it into tangible relics with each one carrying the scars of battle, the weight of legend, and the mark of my own hands. From my home to your collection. I was privileged to serve in the U.S Marine Corp for 6 years, it was the best days of my life. Eventually, all good things come to pass, and we move on to our next battle. This is my way to continue providing for others, bringing authenticity from war torn universes only the way a Marine could! You're a dork. "Guilty." As we continued to break bread and indulge ourselves with freedom fries and bacon cheeseburgers, we traded tips for weathering, painting, and previously tested finishes. It was more than clear Jacob was a capable creator who simply needed a boost to propel his business. After seeing some of his finished pieces and witnessing the level of intricate detail he managed was impressive. While it may seem strange to highlight a competitor, someone who is clearly is capable of delivering pieces on par with our own (and sometimes better) is an individual who deserves to be highlighted. We remember we once stood in his shoes, struggling to make ends meet as we threw everything into this venture with grand hopes on a beer budget. Every step forward was a drop of water as we rucked through the next desert hoping for one more sale. We're proud to support our fellow makers and even prouder to support our fellow veterans. We are not powerhouse players. We are not a giant in the "biz." We are creators, artists, and passionate fans who want to help lift up as many others as possible. One day, if we are lucky, if we earn it, we will combine forces to create the power house we all hope to become. Building a business takes time, it takes effort and commitment to maintain passion when times get tough. It is not an easy endeavor, especially when you strike out on your own instead of building just another Etsy store. There is no advertising when you are on your own, no search engine coming to your rescue. It's word of mouth that will build you, sustain you, and motivate you. I would highly recommend www.thepaladinsforge.com as a fantastic source for custom 3d printed cosplay armor, swords and shields.

We're Slow & We Know It!
Let’s Face it, We’re Slow Which as a business, may be the dumbest thing to admit, but at Mediocre Studios, we’re brazenly honest. I am not here too blow smoke up your rear and lie to you. If I don’t think I can make your timeline, you are going to know. On average we have ten orders ahead of you. During the “Con Season,” we may have 15-20 orders backlogged. That’s not to say we wait and only work on one at a time, but there is a threshold where quality can suffer when you rush something or take on more than you can handle at once. We’re a small business, we take pride in our work. While I have shipped items, I was not personally proud of, I strive to make every masterpiece a work art. Some shops will throw out fancy words like bespoke, artisanal, but here, we check our egos at the door and stick to the tried and true; Mediocre AF. So, this article is going to break down what takes us so long, so you have a better understanding of who you are purchasing from. 1. We’re a Studio, Not a Warehouse Unlike mass-produced items which reside on a warehouse shelf somewhere, our costumes and props are made to order. They don’t even exist until you place your trust in our business. From modeling, printing, sanding, welding, to sewing, painting, and finishing, our team puts hours (sometimes months) into every single detail. That level of care can’t be rushed without sacrificing quality—and we refuse to cut corners. Fresh off the printer, a part looks rough. It has visible “layer lines”—tiny ridges that come from each pass of the nozzle. To an untrained eye, it might seem finished. But you deserve better than that. You have undoubtedly seen it at a Comicon. The dude dressed up as Randy Macho Man Savage selling 3D printed props weapons. But take a closer look, or don’t because honestly at 10 feet away I can tell he just glued them together and painted them. These shops are about quantity, not quality. To be fair, they have to be, but we don’t. Too us, this is not acceptable. This is your hard-earned cash and you should expect us to earn every penny you spend with us. When we founded Mediocre Studios, we boldly declared WAR on Layer Lines. 2. Sanding, Sanding & More Sanding This is where the quiet, tedious, annoying work begins. We sand every piece by hand—again and again—working through finer and finer grits. Sometimes we take a piece all the way up to a 2000 grit wet sand, The goal? A surface so smooth it feels like glass. Every single surface has to be sanded smooth—and we mean every surface. Power sanders might sound faster, but they remove too much material too quickly. That can warp the piece and ruin the snug fit between parts. So instead, we sand everything by hand. Piece by piece. Curve by curve. Until it all still locks together perfectly, but without the harsh texture of layer lines. Multiple Pieces, Multiple Hours Most props aren’t just one solid object—they’re made of several intricate parts that need to connect seamlessly. That means hours of careful sanding across multiple surfaces, constantly testing and re-fitting to make sure tolerances stay tight. It’s a slow dance of “sand, check the fit, sand again,” repeated until everything slides together flawlessly. Filling & Drying Even after sanding, the eye can still catch the smallest imperfections. That’s why we fill, prime, and sand again, layering in strength and smoothness until the surface is seamless. Each step has to dry or cure fully before the next begins. Rushing here would mean flaws later—and that’s not acceptable to us. But filler isn’t instant—it can take several hours to dry before we can even think about sanding again. And that’s just one coat. Every time we change sandpaper to a higher grit, we repeat this process multiple times: fill, wait, sand, repeat. Each cycle gets us closer to a surface that looks like it was cast, not printed. Only when the piece is assembled and perfectly smooth do we paint. By this point, the layer lines are invisible. What was once a raw print now looks like a prop that stepped out of a film set. transformation is striking: the raw plastic you’d never want to display has become a flawless, professional prop. By the time you see it, you’d never guess how many hours of sanding, waiting, and handwork are hidden beneath that glossy finish. This is just step one, might be step two, but who is counting at this point. 3. Painting Slow & Methodical Painting is where the piece finally comes to life—but it’s also where patience is everything. Each layer of paint must fully cure before the next is applied. That’s hours of waiting between coats. Could we rush? Sure. But here’s what happens when you do: • The paint can crack. • It can run, drip, or leave streaks. • It can peel or flake after just a little use. • It can stay tacky forever (nobody wants a sticky sword). We refuse to let that happen. So, we wait. We let every layer set before the next one bonds. Base coats, metallics, weathering, sealants—all stacked carefully until the piece doesn’t just look painted. It looks real. Weather is an important factor. If it’s too humid, paint dries slower, if its cold, paint can crack when applied to heavy. If any of these issues arise, we sand everything ALL THE WAY back down and start again. That means, you wait longer than if we took our time from the start. 4. Customization Takes Time Many of our clients ask for specific sizing, color adjustments, or unique design features. These personal touches make your piece truly one-of-a-kind—but they also add steps to the process before we can ship it out. Fabrics, foams, resins, paints, and specialty hardware we use aren’t always available off the shelf. Sometimes we have to wait for suppliers, track down unique items, or even custom-dye fabrics to get the look just right. On occasion, we have even had our modeler create something from scratch (UF-50 Bloodhound armor and Helmet). You may not have asked for these features, but the order before yours did and while we can multitask with the best of them and manage finishing several orders simultaneously, there are limits. Something we do, that is unique to Mediocre Studios. Every helmet, weapon, armor piece, etc has a graphite coat applied underneath the paint. Why? Name me one set of armor in lore that is plastic underneath. Eventually, you will drop it, scrape, scratch it, bump into someone at a pub crawl, a con, a Halloween event, and no one, no one, wants to see their precious item damaged to reveal plastic. So, underneath every piece is a graphite coat protected by a 2k Hard Coat. As wear and tear occurs, you will see a glint of metal coating under the paint and not cheap plastic. Materials Need Time Too Resins need to cure. Paint layers need to dry. Sealants need to harden so they don’t crack. The proper cure time for a 2K Hard Coat is 2 WEEKS. Weeks, not days. These “invisible” hours are just as important as the crafting itself, ensuring your prop or costume holds up under lights, travel, and wear. Making sure they don’t break the first time you trip or drop something. We don’t think of what we make as “items.” We think of them as pieces of your story. Maybe it’s for a stage show, a film, a cosplay convention, or just to bring a character you love to life. Whatever the reason, we want the moment you open that box to feel magical. We’re cosplayers and gamers too. We drop in on Helldivers 2 on Fridays and mop up the flood on Sunday. We get it. So, we dedicate ourselves to making an item as good as we possible can. Sure, we have a few misses from time to time, but damnit, we try. 5. Relentless Pursuit of Excellence For us, “good enough” is never good enough. Every costume and prop that leaves our shop should look like it belongs on stage, on screen, or in the spotlight—not like it just came off a machine. That means we obsess over the smallest details, the ones you might never notice consciously, but that make all the difference in how your piece feels and photographs. Most shops will print your armor with only 2 walls / perimeters, which is fairly standard. This is directly tied to the strength of an object, albeit surviving a drop or someone being abusive at ComiCon. We don't meet the standard in this regard, we exceed it. All Masterpiece armor is printed four - six walls thick, depending on the component. Our is designed to last longer than you will cosplay. 6. Growing into the Future We know the wait can be hard. And we don’t want long turnarounds to be the norm forever. That’s why we’re already working on expanding our capacity and streamlining our workflows. We’re finding ways to be more efficient without ever sacrificing the quality we’re known for. We’re growing—cautiously, thoughtfully, but with excitement. Because we want to give you not only the best props and costumes we can create, but also the best experience we can offer. We recently brought on additional help to expedite the sanding and assembly process. We added a dozen more printers to our studio. We are growing. 42. Thank You for Your Patience This studio didn’t appear overnight. We built it with our own hands—piece by piece, just like the props we make. We started small, with borrowed tools and improvised workbenches, never imagining how far it could grow. And then the orders came. And kept coming. Suddenly, we weren’t just hobbyists making things we loved—we were a team. A small team, but a passionate one. We are overjoyed and overwhelmed every single day by the support we’ve received. Every message, every order, every kind word has been life-changing. You’ve helped us turn a dream into reality, and we’ll never stop being grateful for that. But being a small team also means that every hand is vital, and every piece takes time. So, thank you—for waiting, for trusting, for being part of this life-changing journey with us. When your package arrives, you’re not just holding a costume or a prop. You’re holding our story, our late nights, our sanding dust, our laughter, our pursuit of perfect. And the best part? This is only the beginning.

Masterpiece Timeframes: By a Mediocre Painter
This will be a simple, but informative post. Below you will find a general timeframe for all masterpiece items. This is not a delivery timeframe, but how long until your item will ship. Additional information follows for those interested. Masterpiece Helmets: 35 - 65 days. Masterpiece Armor: 60 - 120 Days. Masterpiece Weapons: - Pistols: 14 days minimum. - Rifles: 30 Days minimum. - Large Items (Hell-bomb): 45 days Minimum. Extras (Electronics, Custom Paint Schemes, etc): Add two weeks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the Mediocre Painter: First and foremost, this is a family business. My Wife and I stood this company up, because we wanted to build a company you could rely on to deliver the most exceptional experience and product possible. When we launched, we were barely scraping by to build this company and while we are doing great now, I feel like we are failing you. You see, as you get busier, you start to cut corners. You justify decisions to decrease turn around times. You tell yourself, only you would notice that "minor defect", not the customer. But after years in the military and having attention to detail beat into me with a whiffle ball bat, I know when mistakes are made. To be clear, 3D printing is not hard. You could download any file, any model and print them yourself. The difficult part, is after. The work preparing a model for paint takes time, It is tedious. But I learned a long time ago, if you want to be a better painter, you need to start with a better canvas. With 3D printed parts, this comes from sanding each component and filling it with primer/filler and repeating the process until it looks like glass. Anything less, and you are going to see right thru the paint and notice every layer line. This process takes days, sometimes weeks depending on the specific product and how many pieces or sharp edges it has. If you are asking why, why does it matter? Because Jackson Pollock himself, could not hide layer lines. Even worse a layer shift would land a piece in the garbage by my standards. Why? It doesn't really matter. That's not the point of this article. The point is, over the last few months, we have become slammed with orders. As a new business, this is amazing. It is an incredible journey that means we are doing things right and building a fantastic customer base and community. From an artistic perspective, it sucks. I love painting. I want to ship you the most incredible item you have ever unboxed. I want that feeling of Christmas as a child to overwhelm you when you open up a custom piece from Our Studio. What I dread most, is becoming a conveyer belt spitting out orders that are lesser versions of the prior. You chose us. I want to earn that choice. I want to own it. I want you to be happy you chose us and not some Etsy Store. As a painter, nothing is worse than a rush job. But I cannot provide you an exceptional product if we turn into just another assembly line cranking out orders non-stop. Custom painting takes time. It takes control. It takes patience. When we first launched, I was proud of every masterpieces we shipped. Our first custom order, resulted in a mile long review post that still resides on our front page today! But if I looked in the mirror and asked myself if I was proud of our more recent shipments, to be honest, I know I could have done better. I wasn't happy with them, but time is never on your side as a business. As I write this, there is a Angrith's Crown sitting on my rack with the base coat of paint drying. Yet, I stare at it debating whether or not to throw it in the trash. The giant ears suffered from a massive layer shift during printing. These types of errors and extremely difficult to hide and often require resin work to cover. But resin work is a whole-nother can of worms. The layer shift was caused from printing the ears hollow to save weight for the customer who intends to wear it for Halloween. But right now, as it sits, I think it looks like shit. I said it. You read it. It is what it is. Now what to do with it? As an artist, I have already started reprinting it, but deadlines. This will be up to the customer. When you actually care about what you ship out, deadlines become a dilemma. They become a hindrance. They stop art from occurring in the search of profit and sales. So, what to do? Going forward, we will no longer accept rush orders. On receipt of your order we will email you and ask for your timeline and let you know where we stand. If we are unable to fulfill your request, we will offer to cancel and refund your order. Additionally, we will be changing how our inventory works. Every masterpiece will have a set limit per month (TBD) regardless if we are a made to order store. The idea is too limit how many Masterpiece orders we take at a time. This gives us more time to work for you. The customer. This gives us more control and focus. This gives us a chance to be proud of our work again and bring the joy of unboxing back to your eyes. This will inevitably slow our business from growing, but it will give you the quality you deserve. Is it the right thing to do? We hope so. We hope scarcity will breed desire, because the quality will speak for itself. Because the effort will be apparent. Because most importantly, this will also help us. From a business perspective this may be a dumb move. You might just want us to hire help. We're working on it. But you if took nothing away from this post, know this. The very first thing I said, was the most important. This is a Family run business and Family comes first.

Great product and fast shipping
Also got updates during the process

Well assembled, fast delivery. I realized in my inital review I was far too harsh on the product. It’s high quality, and looks like its straight out of the game.
A+ product. A+ service. 10/10 would recommend
These Zippo lighters are AWESOME! Very good work and SUPER FAST turn around time. We will be using them for ALL of our engraving needs from here on!!!!
I know Etsy is he easy button sometimes, but it's nice to find folks who genuinely care and provide fantastic customer service. Plus I'm proud to support our vets! Thank you!
The mounted cavalier arrived in good time and is nicely detailed. I'm eager to get it put together and painted. It will make a great addition to my collection!
I hate painting but love Warhammer, an unfortunate combination for someone who enjoys the hobby. To spare myself of a mediocre paint job, Mediocre Studios painted my Veteran Guardsmen Kill Team for me. The models looked fantastic by the time they were through with them. Mediocre Studios knocked my Krieg Guardsmen out in a couple of weeks for half the price of anywhere else I could find online. Thanks guys!
If you want to take your bases to the next level use these!
Love it! Perfect options for my army!
